Ready to Learn by Ruth Marques
Are you eager to learn? At a young age, my nephew Jacob was eager to learn. He got to sit in the cockpit of a plane at a Museum in the UK. For Jacob, this was another spring break activity. Filling his mind with questions, possibilities, and dreams for the future. Now he is six, and Jacob is quite happy to substitute a bedtime story for facts about engine sizes, fuel capacity, and number of passengers!
The contrast of Jacob’s life to the lives of the children at CBC is overwhelming. The amount of hands-on learning that happens in his life is so much greater than children growing up in the slums of Brazil. Jacob is naturally curious because he is constantly stimulated with material, experiences, and information.
At CBC we have 4 precious hours each day to inspire our students. Quality reading material, educational videos, and a good curriculum are vital tools for engaging them in learning.
New Learning Project
This spring we are starting an additional project. This project will run parallel to our usual classes in Math, Portuguese, and IT. We want to develop curiosity, a love for reading, and a thirst for information in our students. Your monthly giving helps us provide these materials. Please help to develop our ideas into concrete plans and make CBC a fun and exciting place to learn for all our students. Here are the topics.
Learning topics
2nd grade – honesty
3rd & 4th grade – respect
5th grade – responsibility
6th & 7th grade – Profession fair
8th & 9th grade – the stock market
In chapel, we are learning about what the Bible teaches about joy and love. At the end of the project, the children will be presenting their findings to each other. We want to use this opportunity as a way to build their self-confidence and ability to work as a team.
We would love your support.
