Faith, Hope, and Love

By Casie Harrington

It was truly a blessing to return to Brazil last month. Though I never lost my love for CBC, this trip helped me rekindle my passion. In 1 Corinthians 13:13 Paul states, “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

I believe this encompasses my trip. Every day I was offered an opportunity to build my faith. Whether praying before meals, staff devotionals twice a week, or the workshops I held for the children and staff, God was first. Our faith was at the center.

Their faith in the Lord drives their hope. Every day they live with the hope and expectation of experiencing love and joy. The staff and students at CBC walk (and often run) through the gate with a smile on their face. Though they do not know what the day will hold, they embrace each day with hope and trust in the Lord.

Hope and love go hand in hand. Quite literally I was led around by a child tugging on my hand nearly every day. Love has a different meaning at CBC. I believe their version of love is what we refer to as unconditional love. Full of smiles and laughter, these people will seek you out simply to give you a hug.

This summer, faith, hope, and love were redefined for me. Experiencing this in person for 12 day gave me deeper understanding of what Paul meant in 1 Corinthians and motivates me to share of the love I was given so others might see the hope found at CBC and step out in faith to experience this love themselves.
