Faith for Generations
Today, we celebrate generations of faith at CBC. Our first story is of another former student who is now a teacher at CBC. Our second story is the faith journey of a family and how you can pray for that family. Thank you for your faithful support and prayers.
Another former student becomes a teacher
My name is Ruth, and I am full of faith and love for Jesus. I am 27 years old. I am single, an only child, and live with my parents.
My journey with CBC began in 2006 when I started 2nd grade. The three years I spent here profoundly changed my life. I developed important skills like singing and good communication. One memory I have is winning the best presentation in my class. From that day forward, I developed a dream to be a journalist.
At the end of 4th grade, I left CBC for family reasons but was able to finish my education. My professional life took the direction of an educator. I worked in both private and public schools as an inclusion assistant for children with learning difficulties.
I have learned about empathy, the value of sharing knowledge, and the impact that a teacher has on their students.
God has a sense of humor because I remember my disappointment at having to leave CBC when I was about to enter the 5th grade classroom. Today, I am the teacher in that exact classroom! It feels extra special to have this opportunity and responsibility.
Recently, in my class, a boy was sharing about his birthday and explained that someone had broken an egg on his head as a joke (saying it was a birthday tradition), but that he hadn’t liked it. We discussed this and agreed that it was not very nice behavior.
Two weeks later, another boy in the class came to me and confessed that he had broken the egg and had been feeling convicted about it. He apologized, and I thanked him for asking for forgiveness. As we study the theme of responsibility this month, it was a great example of our students developing values for their lives.
“I am delighted to be working here. I love the team of staff, and I have lots of ideas. You can count on me!”
Coming to Faith
Israel’s mom came to faith in Jesus at CBC. Her son has been a student with us for four years, and he is now in 6th grade. Israel brought the Gospel into their home as He shared what he was learning at the end of each day.
Through CBC’s special event for Mother’s Day, Israel’s mother had the opportunity to respond to the Gospel and join her son as a follower of Jesus.
However, Israel has complex needs. He has been diagnosed with depression. His mother is desperate to help him, but does not know how.
With CBC’s guidance, he is now receiving counselling, and we continue to support and pray for the whole family.
Please join us in prayer for Israel to recover from his depression and continue his successful journey at CBC, which is shining God’s light into his family and community.
CBC forms character and cultivates Christian values.
We nurture not just good students but good people.
