What’s your Legacy?
LEGACY begins when what God does in our lives impacts someone else’s. Our LEGACY grows when we plant goodness, which will still be at work when we are no longer present.
Proverbs 10: 7 “The memory of the righteous is blessed.”
The Bible talks about legacies of financial means and of those of wisdom, the values and good work we demonstrate and teach while we are here on earth. There are many ways to help the poor, but CBC chose education because it transforms from generation to generation. CBC’s legacy is alive in hundreds of families in the slums of Fortaleza.
This month, we have launched a new page on our website www.thechannel.org/legacygiving
The page has more information on how you can leave a legacy gift to CBC. Please take a look!
Have you considered your legacy?
Leaving a legacy or bequest to a non-profit is a way to continue our impact and align our finances with our values.
May Prayer / Praise
Thanks to everyone who contributed to our Spring fundraising campaign and came to our fundraising banquet. We are just a little short of our goal.
Please continue praying for a student called Kaleb, who was hit by a car on his way home from CBC. He underwent brain surgery and was in a coma for several days. HOWEVER, he is now awake and talking to his parents. What a terrific answer to prayer. We are so thankful for God’s healing power at work in Kaleb’s life.

We will be celebrating our moms at CBC this month!
Isaiah 40:11: “He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.”
Building a legacy through Prayer
This month, we will have our 2nd annual day of prayer with the children at the project. It has become an opportunity for us to help the students understand and value the role of prayer in their lives.
During the day, each class visits different places in the project to pray. For example, children are not usually allowed in the kitchen, but on our day of prayer, they will go in small groups to pray for the cook, give thanks for the food, and ask God for good health and strength.
Please pray with us on Friday, May 1st, or any time this month.

CBC Is Changing Kyle’s Life
Kyle (name changed) is 8 years old. He lives with his mother, his older sister (who is pregnant), and his youngest sister, who is 5.
He is one of many of our students who are exposed to much suffering and injustice at a young age. This is a result of the difficult living conditions the family faces and the daily battle for survival.
When we asked Kyle what he likes most, he said soccer. What does he least like? ”Seeing my pregnant sister on the bus and nobody offering her a seat.”
Recently, his teacher was giving out glow-in-the-dark stickers as a prize for the best work done in class. Because Kyle did not earn a sticker, he went to the teacher after class to ask if he could have one. She asked why, and he replied that at home, they have no lights at night, and he thought that sticker would bring light into the dark.
This is how we learn about the lives of the children we serve, the conditions they live in, and their desire to see a better life.
Kyle’s dream is to buy a car for his family so that his mother and sister do not have to take the bus each day to find work. At CBC, he is learning about character and behavior. He has yet to be afforded a life in which he sees people modelling the love and respect he wants to give. Each day at CBC, he observes a life marked by structure, care, and healthy boundaries. He is experiencing consistency, acceptance, and optimism for the first time in his life.
Thank you for making this possible. Please pray for Kyle, his teacher, Talita, and his family.

We appreciate your prayers
