September Newsletter 2026: fun start for second semester

Images of deterioration to the main entrance at CBC and the words "Emergency Maintenance Appeal." "Entrance area requires immediate structural repairs!"

Behind every image or story, there is something we often take for granted: a safe and well-maintained place where ministry happens. Our campus is much more than buildings. It is where children discover hope, and our community experiences God’s love every day. Our buildings are also aging. The main entrance area is 60 years old, and this July an engineer told us that parts of the roof and the supporting columns must be replaced for safety. It is in critical condition!

Fun friends at chapel

teachers dressed as lions standing in front of a group of cbc students in chapel

Congratulations to the three brave teachers who abandoned their desks for a splash of fun at chapel last week. One of these lions learned a big lesson about obedience after wandering off beyond the boundaries of his patch. The children loved it and learned!

September Prayer / Praise

For our emergency maintenance campaign.

For our caretaker Erivando who is waiting for urgent surgery to remove a hernia. Pray that he gets to the top of the waiting list quickly.

Our DreamBuilder partners are what make CBC possible! Join our community to help spread the word of God through the mission of CBC and create an opportunity for the children to experience fun and freedom form the reality of their lives in the slum community in Fortaleza, Brazil!

Nutrition and Health

We have previously shared that ongoing nutritional deficits impede the learning and development of children growing up in the slums. A poor diet is one of the many dimensions of poverty that they face. Most of our children do not eat a sufficient quantity of fruits and vegetables. Neither do they consume a wide variety of foods or have an established routine of mealtimes.

CBC plays a valuable role in educating parents and children about the importance of diet for healthy growth. Our teachers are also able to alert parents to health and developmental concerns that would otherwise go unobserved.

Thanks to your support CBC serves 260 daily nutritional meals. Vivien our cook, keeps a keen eye out for children who have a difficult relationship with food or who seem particularly hungry.

CBC or Boot Camp?

We got everyone moving on the first day to school! And yes we see you teenagers at the back of class – not having quite as much fun as the 4th graders!

There were plenty of star jumps, stretches and team games involved in this PE class, before students took a seat back in the classroom. Consider yourselves awake, after a month of vacation!

Multiplying Results

He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.’

2 Corinthians 9:10

We are sharing with the children about how God can multiply the seed He has planted in them, as they walk righteously with God.

They have built strong relationships in the first semester and now we are encouraging them to reach out to the lost together.
