Kyle – Dressed for Success

Child at CBC standing tall with a big smile on his face. boy is dressed in white dress shirt and black dress pants

Back in May, we told you about Kyle, who had asked his teacher for a glow-in-the-dark sticker to light up the windowless room where he sleeps.

Well, Kyle continues to strive for success. Here he is preparing for a performance at a recent special event. It’s just a delight to see how his life is being transformed here at CBC.

Summer Prayer / Praise

Thankful for another semester completed!

Pray for our staff and children as they rest over the summer.

Pray for new staff and volunteers in Virginia to keep the CBC office running and growing.

Generator Saves The Day

These moms are grateful for the new generator at the project after an outage in the community left the neighborhood without power for 14 hours!

Thanks to the generator, our Mother’s Day event at the end of May was a success regardless!

First Semester Highlights

This was truly a semester of success! On top of seeing our students grow in knowledge and love each day, your partnership has enabled us to deliver another 6 months of services and special events for 220 children and their families. This semester, we provided over 24,000 meals, and each student received 500 hours of quality education! We are so thankful for your support!

What’s Challenging Us?

Parents want more support

Many of our parents are young and have limited education themselves. Some feel inadequate as parents and really value the support and counsel they receive from CBC. They are asking us to arrange more events and opportunities for them, in addition to what we do for their children.

Teaching literacy in a short window of time

Our students do not learn to read until they are with us in 2nd grade (age 7). They do not have children’s books at home. We have a short period to teach children to read during their first year with us. Our teachers need training, materials, and support to give each child the attention they need to achieve basic literacy.

Equipment and teaching resources

As we said last month about music, we need to maintain and upgrade equipment and teaching materials. We need funds to buy school supplies, musical instruments, books, and other classroom materials.

Happy Birthday

As a naturalized citizen, I am thankful for the opportunity I had many years ago to come to America. While I thought I was pursuing my American Dream, God had an even bigger dream for my heart.

I met my own founding fathers – people like Dr Roger Denis, Rev. Troy Collier, Rev. James Cheshire, and Art Block, who showed me what it meant to serve God and serve others. With the friendship and support of these men, we began our journey to help street children in Brazil.

Now it is time to celebrate what America means to you. I wish you and your family a very happy summer, and a great 4th of July. May you continue to follow Jesus with all your heart. – Marc
