Expectations do matter...
A new study released in June showed that 75% of teachers do not believe that students at risk of dropping out of school would work harder, even if more were demanded of them in the classroom. 66% of students, however, said they would work harder if others held them to higher standards - they do only what is expected of them. Students desperately need outside encouragement and motivation to overcome the difficult barriers they face in completing school.
